History
Open Data Security company timeline, ownership evolution, and current operating structure.
Company Background
Open Data Security was created in 2016 in Spain, with operations initially established in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The company was built around practical, hands-on cyber security delivery for organisations needing technical depth, rapid execution, and clear outcomes.
As delivery volume grew, operations expanded to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and then to Madrid, creating a wider mainland-and-islands operating footprint. This phase strengthened access to specialist talent and improved national coverage for programme work.
From 2018 onwards, operations also expanded into London to support UK and cross-border demand. This became a key part of the long-term operating model and laid the groundwork for UK-led ownership and governance.
From 2024, the UK entity assumed ownership and operations, with Open Data Security becoming part of the Itson Group.
Today, Itson Group contains a wide range of media, SaaS, fintech, and security products under the leadership of CEO Gareth Sharp.
