ODS invests in WebARX

WebARX is an Estonian company specialized in web security. Its main activity focuses on the development of a web security platform that includes WAF technology, and different security monitoring capabilities for web developers and digital agencies.

During the second round of investment called by WebARX, we at Open Data Security wanted to participate in their project, so we decided to carry out the investment to closely follow the journey of this company. Organizations such as LIFT99, Thorgate Ventures, Agrello and Pipedrive participated in the round.

In February 2019, the company detected a critical flaw in a WordPress plugin. Luka Šikić is one of the developers and researchers of WebARX and was the person who identified the vulnerability that allowed attackers to control entire websites through the "Simple Social Buttons" plugin. That vulnerability exposed more than 40,000 web pages, which were made safe thanks to Luka's discovery.

Since the creation of WebARX, in July 2018, its client base has not stopped growing. The company currently has 5 employees and supplies customers in more than 83 countries. The company's product protects more than 100,000 web pages. In turn, more than 3,000 web developers and digital agencies use its product, improving and monitoring the security of their websites.
